Daydream, OCS, returns to start again
Summer 4 "We're going west," said race officer, Alex Johnston, and that's what 16 boats did for Race 4 of the club's popular Summer Series. From the start in Tung O Wan, on Sunday, the 13th of July, five IRC and 11 PHS entries rounded the southern tip of Lamma Island and headed for Cheung Chau in a Force 3 breeze. |

Next storms to the finish
Those who went wide did well and were soon enjoying clean air while those who went closer inshore fell behind. After leaving P1 to port, the next mark was Cheung Chau Rock – Witchcraft led the way. At this point, and given that the scarcity of wind was making life difficult for the tailenders, the RO decided that a shortened course would be best for everyone. With the S flag raised off Cheung Chau Rock, first to finish was Witchcraft, followed by Redeye and Intrigue. In the distance, coming around Lamma, a clutch of spinnakers appeared, led by the Neo 430, Next. Then came Zesst followed by a steady stream of PHS boats. Bringing up the rear was the ever-persistent Beneteau, Water Rabbit. From the finish it was a dash to Cheung Chau Wan and the New Baccarat Restaurant where crews enjoyed a seafood lunch and an informal prize-giving. Victory in the IRC 1 division went to Witchcraft, while Intrigue took 1st in IRC 2. In PHS A, Daydream won on handicap, followed by Jahoo! and JeNa PaBe. Sea Eagle topped the leader board in PHS B with Otto Chan's O'Sea 3 in 2nd. |
